Red Clay Mission
Project:
Providing home repairs for
low-income, elderly, and handicapped families
for nearly a decade. Located on the Harpst Campus of the
Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers in Cedartown,
GA. Hundreds of students from dozens of UMCs
have spent 5 days living in a ‘tent city’ on the
Harpst back campus. The first day is designed to
build skills and community among mission
families including a ropes course, community
scavenger hunt, and roundtable discussion to
prepare them for their mission. They will then
spend three days repairing roofs, building new
porches and handicap ramps, replacing windows,
and more. Worship services, recreating, and time
spent with MHCC residents are also important
aspects of Red Clay. In the past, teams have
also traveled from New York, Indiana, Ohio,
Alabama, Maryland, and Tennessee to serve.
For more information on serving, contact
Vance Voinche
at
MHCC.
Hands to Honduras:
Each summer, high school students from different
churches in the Conference come together to
share in a multi-cultural experience in
Honduras. We travel with
Honduras Outreach Inc.
to Rancho El Paraiso in the Algalta Valley. For
two years we have worked with the people of
Maguelar to help provide them with new chimneys,
repaired roofs, fresh concrete floors, and
working latrines. We also spend time in a
Vacation Bible School with the children in the
village.

Opportunities at
Hinton Rural Life Center:
Hinton is a Jurisdictional "missions" retreat
center. It's nestled in the NC mountains near
Hayesville. Only about 2 hours from Atlanta.
It's a great retreat facility, but it's also a
perfect destination for summer mission trips,
