Navigating the living waters of ministry with youth by stimulating, helping, and
equipping dis ciples.
We minister
to the youth who are involved in our local churches, and help build their faith
by creating and implementing conference youth events.
We
help
youth
develop into leaders at all levels of the United Methodist
Church:
*our local church youth groups
*our conference boards and agencies
*our national and jurisdictional councils on youth ministry.
We
educate
youth on social and missional issues, and advocate for these issues on behalf of
our youth.
We
promote
the Youth Service Fund. YSF is a mission fund supported by youth and provides a
way for youth to be in real ministry with each other. United Methodist teens
raise money for other teens doing ministry in their churches and communities by
impacting poverty, illiteracy, delinquency, and social justice! Donations are
sent from local churches or raised at conference youth events. There is an
application process for the distribution of grants. Projects should be emerging
ministries by, with, or for youth in grades 6-12.
We support
the local church in their mission to create disciples for Jesus Christ.
We
get guidance
from
three sources:
The Bible
The Spirit that lives in each CCYM member
The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church. It contains our
Constitution (how we are structured and held accountable); our Theology (what we
believe about God and how we know it); and our Social Principles (our
conscientious stand on environmental, economic, political, global, and moral
issues). It also contains a specific listing of the purpose and role of CCYM in
¶ 648.
